Too hot to ride...

...but I did anyway. And I cleaned Jokie's stall. I've gotten better about the heat (e.g. I didn't think Crown was bad at all) but yesterday was over my current heat threshold. It only took about 5 min. of being out of my A/C before I felt nauseous from the heat. Being in the covered arena I got a bit better, and I went ahead with my lesson, but, boy, I had to *struggle* against whining during it. :-( . Oh well, no riding for me tonight because my car has is in the shop for an oil change and regular service (172K! I love Hondas...)
Notes on current reading: I finished The Four Feathers. I liked it very much. Bogs down about 3/4 of the way through, with a bit too much wallowing in "interpersonal BS" (as my erstwhile brother-in-law would say), but overall a good book. Like I said before, the writing is very cinematic. Interestingly, a lot of the action goes on off-stage; you hear about it from other characters. I also think it is interesting to see how the movies have interpreted the book, and the reasons why those decisions were made.
Currently reading Christopher Moore's Coyote Blue. This will be me 3rd C.M. book (I've read Lamb and Blood Sucking Fiends). Enjoyable so far, but a whiplash-inducing tonal switch from what I've just been reading. I'm thinking this book will keep me occupied until my copy of The Half Blood Prince arrives. :-) .
