Nice Holiday.

Like I said, I spent the whole weekend with madbaker's neighbors. Much cooler in SF :-) .
Came home with A. Friday night. Saturday a bunch of us (Dawn, Marguerite, Johanna, Gislaine) went out on Juana's's SF fabric shopping tour. Unfortuantely, aastg had to cancel--see goldenstag's posts. The day started dissappointingly. Beressi's was closed for the holidays, Discount Fabrics on Haight didn't have anything interresting, and Far Out Fabrics was really dissappointing. Then we had lunch at a place on Haight that *used* to be good, but has since gone downhill :-P . (Nice cat, though).
But the last two fabric stops saved the day. Satin Moon had many Fabulous Fabric Finds (ooo, I *had* to spend money!) And that funky place near Satin Moon had silk taffeta for $3.69/yd!!! Could not resist! Bought a bolt! OK, so it's only about 36 in. wide, but I got 30+ yards. Perfect for the Dickens Faire outfit I've been thinking of.
Then it was off to Zarzuela for yummy tapas. Maestrateresa, Branwen, A. and madbaker joined us. Much sangria and bouncing up and down over fabric finds :-) .
Sunday I don't think I moved off D&A's couch. I did all the handsewing I could on my Elenor of Toledo sleeves. I'm thinking I can finish these up in a week, and get the dress done sometime this milenium. OK, so I have a challange out to me from Marguerite to finish this dress for the Arts Fete in August. We watched many movies--more below.
Monday D&A and I headed off to the SF Zoo. I hadn't been for years, although I used to be a member and go several times a year. Boy, has the zoo changed! The savanna exibit is very cool. I love to watch giraffes! We got to see the young grizzlies, too. Oh, and the giant anteater was out and about and eh/she was very cool too!
Got back to D&A and watched 1776--it's traditional.
Per movies: Watched a lot of movies that I'd heard of but never seen before--mostly from the 1930's. We watched two Gary Cooper movies: Lives of the Bengal Lancers (neat dress uniforms!) and Beau Geste. We also watched Dead End with Humphrey Bogart (a movie that holds up well, IMHO), and The Scarlet Pimpernel with Lesile Howard (had to watch while sewing 'cause it has my motto: ...you're brainless, spineless, useless, but you do know clothes!") Also watched some of the A&E Nero Wolf series, as well as a few of the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes'. And of course 1776. Jeeze, if I ever spend a July 4th w/o D&A I'll have to break down and buy my own copy of this ;-) .
Well, time to go make money.
