The problem is gall stones. They sent him home with painkiller and are supposed to schedual surgery. He was up all night and is feeling wiped out, so he's headed home and will hopefully get some rest.

This all has implications for the move. His last day at work is supposed to be the 28th. No way can we afford surgery w/o health coverage. Possiblity exists of asking his wrk to extend his time, which, ofcourse, would delay the move. Then there's his ability to pack. Must keep the faith.. But my poor sweetie!

Ngh. Well, at least it's a known thing and is treatable. Poor muffin. I hear those hurt like a [naughty word].

Oh man, poor J/S. Been there, done that, hurts like hell. Tell him to immediately cut out all the fats he can from his diet. Though even then, it's a crap shoot. I mean, I went for weeks with no more than 10g* a day, and I still had another attack the week before my surgery was scheduled.

* I picked that as a safe number since the "low-fat" dinner they gave me in the hospital the first time had 10g of fat in it. Believe you me, as the weeks rolled on, I was *thrilled* to discover that alcohol was allowed. :->

It's so hard when you want help and you're so far away... but at least it's not anything REALLY serious - a pain in the A@# bump in the road and no fun at all (ouch), but he's going to be okay, this is fixable and this won't stop him from being able to move down here and be with you... it's just a.. a.. a.. "Rescheduling Issue", that's all.
Keep up the faith.

Marginally better to find out now than on the 29th, I suppose. But ow.

Shit! Tell him to call me if he needs ANYTHING. (I'm going to tell him the same thing but he doesn't listen to me.)

He'll feel much better once it's out. They're usually pretty quick about scheduling gallbladder surgery, it's not considered something you can live with indefinitely. As for coverage, well, his company is required to offer him COBRA, so there's always that for the followup care, but really there shouldn't be much followup on this type of surgery. A week of recovery, no lifting heavy things, and he'll be fine. It'll set the move back a bit but beats the alternative.

I second the reccomendation for COBRA. It helps bridge that pre-existing condition thing.
