J/S is flying south tonight for a weekend visit - yay! Friday is all about working on the Grande Aissiete pattern for him, Saturday is the barn and then a visit with the Usual South Bay Suspects (minus Gillian (poozers) , but plus Laina and Cathyn (huzzah!)). Sunday morning is the barn and and then an SCA Equestrian practice, with rental lesson horses so J/S will get to ride, followed by lunch and then the airport (sigh). It will be too short a visit, but *way* better than no visit at all. :-)

If I get all my work done, can I be a south bay suspect? :->

There will be a gathering at my house even though I'll be gone (fighter practice for the afternoon starting around 1) - you're more than welcome to come by and schmooze with everyone else, and there may be an outing thereafter. Laina and Cathyn are staying at my house when they're not traveling the world, so you'd be able to see them then too. I'll send you my address offline. :)

Can I be a South Bay suspect too, even though I won't have all my work done? :-)

Yes, please!

And hooray that you get to see your sweetie, even if only for a weekend!

The internets have failed me.

What's a "Grande Aissiete"? Obviously some article of clothing?

Sorry, I'm sure my bad spelling made Internet searching impossible. :-(

"Grande Aissiete" (sp?) refers to the really-huge armsye style you see in the extant Charles Dubois pourpoint. In fact, we'll be playing with [livejournal.com profile] tashadandelion's (relatively new) pattern: http://www.anshelmarms.com/cdb.html .

The goal is to make J/S a new gambeson, and the joy of this style is that you can lift your arms up without pulling everything else up, since the fitted hip section acts like a hip belt.

Oh, I don't blame your spelling. I blame medieval French for being inconsistent.
