Spent the weekend away from home. Didn't plan it that way, but it turned out well (except in the wieght department :-/ ).

Friday I did go to the barn, which went a long way towards bettering my mood. Then spent the afternoon and evening over at [livejournal.com profile] helblonde, who was home watching Noah for Marguerite. In the evening I played game-moll while The Usual South Bay Suspects played thier RPG. Got more flat-felling done. Yummy irrestistable Zackery's pizza was consumed, along with a pear cherry tart from the Woodside Bakery (yes, Doug the Baker is still in business, apparently, for all of you who remember the old Westermark in the '80s).

Saturday I had a 9:30 AM appointment to get my saddle re-stuffed. That took very little time, so Brandee had a day off of grazing and grooming.
Next it was off to Great Mall with Marguerite for underwear shopping! TMI: weight loss, if you're a girl, probably means you have to replace all your bras.) [livejournal.com profile] nightbocce met us there and then shopped a bit herself.
Finally got back to M's at almost 5:00 PM to start to sew (which was supposed to be the main activity of the day). More flatfelling was accomplished, as well as a new bodice drape for nightbocci. Since we went until 1:00 AM I crashed there. Chili's take-out was consumed, along with more pear tart.

Sunday started with breakfast with the Keish's at Hobbees. Then I headed to [livejournal.com profile] misagillian and [livejournal.com profile] leohtulf's to hang out and be social at their fight practice. Got to meet some new folks, meet up with one person I haven't seen for about 20 years, and Paul and Sue. Got the sleeves, from the elbow up, all flat felled, and then got them based into the armsyes. Nice sit down dinner afterwards.

When I got home at about 9:00 PM Owen had made fresh blueberry shortcakes from a recipe from Fine Cooking. Could not resist, despite being really full.

As of now the Norlund No.63 linen-twill tunic-thingie needs to have the sleeves set in for good and then flat-felled around the armseyes. Next it's the collor and the finishing the front, including buttons and buttonholes. I'm going to take it up north this weekend to fit the sleeves more around J/S's wrist, since the gaments I see in paintings like this all have buttons at the wrists (although the garment as shown in Woven Into the Earth does not).

With the out-of-control eating I'm up 2 lbs from my goal weight. My problem is that if food is around I *will* eat it. I've been sucessfull because most days of the week I'm by myself and so have control over my food environment. But now when I'm out like this weekend it sin-food is available an is a big treat - "Festive Eating". My plan is to go back to 18 pts/day until I lose the 2 lbs. Carrot sticks and veggies are my future for the next few days. I hate to think, though, that hanging out with my friends is fattening. Honestly, I'm seriously considering not going to sewing tonight as a way of making sure I maintain control of my food environment (because I know if there is pizza -- and there usually is -- I won't be able to resist it.

Anyway, a very fun, social, and productive weekend. I appreciate all the hospitatlity, guys, I really do. I suspect that when J/S and I finally get to live together my vagabond days will be over, though. ;-)

Where did you get that icon? That is one of my favorite Beatrix Potter books.

I just found it online. Google 'Tailor of Glouster (sp?) icon" and I'm sure you'll find one. :-)

Sadly, it is. :-( It's why I usually try to eat before coming over for sewing nights, and pack my own food along on weekend sewing days. I wish it weren't so, but there it is.

I am very grateful for the odd quirk in my metabolism which means I'm not interested in food in the evenings. It is weird being hungry all morning and early afternoon (fortunately, tiny nibbles, spaced every 30 minutes to two hours does to keep the hunger down) and then have it switch off completely in the evenings and at night, but it is so much easier to resist over eating bad for me foods when the thought of putting any food whatsoever into my mouth is unappealing. I strongly suspect that the only reason I'm slender is this trait. (and I am a fair bit more slender now than when I was living in CA)

Yeah, I have a problem with food that way, too. If it's there, I tend to eat ... I graze, which may be better than just filling a plate, but it may be deceptive. Not quite sure yet. I'm trying to get a grip on that and pay more attention. (I am proud of myself in that we have had a box of Girl Scout cookies in the cupboard for several weeks, where a cookie or two disappears once in awhile, and that's it ... that's something, but other things disappear a bit too quickly -- sigh -- it's why I don't like having candy/cookies/brownies/etc. in the house ...)

I've found my friends really supportive of my need for healthy choices. if they have their heart set on pizza, I swing by the grocery and grab one of those all in one salads, or sushi or something else.

if there's a choice in front of me, I tend towards the better choices. if there's no choice thats when it all falls apart fo rme...

good luck :)

I'm a grazer, which is very bad when food is just sitting out.

Since I got some weight off recently and want to keep it off I have to stay far away from where food is just sitting out waiting to be eaten.
