OK,that's not completely honest. I had to go to the grocery store, make food periodically, do laundry, appease the kitties, etc. But mostly I sewed.

-- I got the bodice patterns copies to paper & lines trued(shawl and Moroni overdress bodices.)

-- wool, linen canvas interlining and silk lining cut out.

-- wool and interlining basted together (flat)

-- wool/interlining basted together and tried on with my red, non-boned petticote.

-- front V tweeked. Had to come in 1/2 inch from the draped muslin neckline. Also had to take in about a 1/2 total in the little bit of center front where the bodice meets.

-- wool/interlining pieces stiched together.

-- edges of wool/interlining folded in and herringbone-stiched down.

Overall comment:
Surprise surprise, if you cut a big V in the center front of your bodice it is not going to fit snuggly. But the drape is pretty darn good. If one thinks of this thing as a coat more than as a gown I think the fit is more acceptable. I think when I get the skirt on (which will weigh the bodice down) and the center front gets closed up at the bottom it will be OK. Another thing is that originally I thought it would close only at the bodice point. But the thing really does fit better if it closes from the bodice point to about the waist. Again, not too surprising. Guiding principle is Done And Warm is Beautiful.

I understand basic sewing. I can do okay garb and even a bit of draping. I learned so much more about tailoring when I read your steps. Thank-YOU for posting.
