Pluses and minuses

Let's get the minuses out of the way:
-- A semi ran me off the road today. No lie. I had to jump over to the shoulder until he passed. *Sigh*.
-- I seem to be fighting off a nascent sore throat. This often happens after I have a super busy time.

Pluses:
-- They finally opened a Trader Joes in Livermore, and, Huzzah Huzzah, it is about a 3 min. drive from my house. It says something about my life these days that this opening has me exstatic.

-- I registered for the Tudor Tailor workshop in Vallejo on June 9 (sorry about missing Mists Games, guys!) I had heard that there would also be a workshop in Emeryville on Friday June 8, but I haven't heard anything concrete about that one as yet, so I signed up for the Vallejo workshop to make sure I got into *something*.

-- All the cooking, pavillion painting, and pavillion sewing for Beltane is now done.

In other news, last week was not a great one for me and Brandee. One day she didn't get out at all, and I only rode Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. This week things should be back to normal, although we are trailering the little girl down to Tarnmists this weekend. And my trainer just got back from the World Cup in Las Vegas (not riding in it, obviously), so I'm looking forward to hearing about it all at my lesson this Thursday.

And I need to finish Vyncent's shirt, and get back to sewing my stuff. ;-)

momentum = mass times velocity.

Once those things get moving, they are hard to slow down. and often the drivers are driving all day or all night, which is mind numbing and messes with your reflexes. And if you get a driver who's not careful or who's tired or who's been plagued by hyper commuters who cut infront of him... yikes.

I drive very defensively around big trucks. Being in the "right" of a situation is no consolation if it puts you in a body sling.

Well, yeah. I tend to be defensive as a driver in general (I assume everyone out there behind the wheel is an idiot, distracted, and therefore a danger to me ...). But these guys are professionals who SHOULD be paying more attention. You're right that one should not assume they are, but still ... (and yes, many of them drive too many hours, and that's a problem that has never been adequately dealt with, IMO -- it's a known issue, but the companies don't (seem to) care ...)

Glad to hear you're OK. Having had to rely on the chivalrous impulses* of long haul truckers, I agree with thread_walker that your driver may well have been the victim of physics or fatigue.

*Every time I've had a flat on a dangerous stretch of highway, a trucker has stopped to render aid and refused remuneration.
