Congrats to Wulfmew and crew!
Jan. 29th, 2007 02:40 pmCrosston ball was fun, as ever, but extra credit should be given to wulfmew, who put on a really tasty feast.:-) I did more smoozing than dancing at this one, but that was fine. Got to wear my 12th night dress again, so that can now be retired for a bit. I was frustrated with my partlet, however, because despite starch it did not stand like I wanted it to. I'm still not convinced that for some of the very fragile looking partlets that they used anything more than starch, but I resorted to boning and wire.
Yup, I spent much of my Sunday re-making my partlet. Like I said before, I want to put that whole outfit behind me and concentrate on other thing, so I just bit the bullet yesterday and fixed it. I also accomplished my original weekend sewing goal by putting the hem(s) in the pink ropa Jen made me, as well as sewing a black velvet ribbon around the hem to protected it.
But all that meant that I spent more time sewing Sunday than cleaning, so that still needs to be done. In my own defense Owen had people over so it wasn't the best environment to clean in anyway. :-/ .
Before the Ball Saturday I had a nice, if exhausting ride and lunch with misagillian. If misagillian ever posts again (wink wink nudge nudge ;-) ) I'm sure she'll tell you all about how she's going to have a partial lease on a horse. So, happily, Brandee and I will have more company at the barn. And Marguerite showed me a TiVo'd video of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police drill routine. Someday maybe we'll have a little drill team of our own, that would be fun.
Latest Netflicks was Lady in the Water. Cute movie, but by far Shamylan's (sp?) weakest. I'm struck by what a sucker I am for characters like Paul Giamatti's -- people trying to live after they have lost everything. I just naturally fall in love with those guys.
Just got some more interesting books. One is a newish-Life in Elizabethan London overview, and the other is a more scholarly work on dress/clothing in the Renaissance and early modern Europe. I have yet to make time to finish the Eating Right in the Renaissance book, though. :-( I'm about 1/2 way through, and I'm afraid it's all starting to sound the same to me. I've always been more a big picture/concepts person, so once I have a handle on that nitty-gritty details can, depending on the situation/topic, start to bore me. I now totally get why the Doctor Comedia character was so funny, however.
So, yeah, same ol' same ol' with me. My life isn't exactly boring, but it certainly is routine.
