Nothing to wear!

This weekend I'm heading south to the Tarnmist Feast. I'm going mainly as a sign of appreciation for Ellen and Kristin who *always* come north the help with EQ events. My plan was to dress for the occasion, as a sign of respect to the good folks of Tarnmist.
I knew my 16th C stuff would be a bit big--I know I need a new corset--but I hadn't realized *how* big.* Bottom line, I currently have only one 16th C outfit that even comes close to fitting--the brown thing, which I'm sick of wearing at this point. I don't have time to do any alterations before the event, no way, no how. So now I've got to wear the brown thing or wear one of my riding houpalonds which to me is like showing up to a dinner party in sweats.
Part of me doesn't want to go now because I have to wear the same old thing. It's embarrasing. I know some of you out there now where I'm coming from.
I'll deal, but I must admit that this bothers me a lot.
*(I knew I'd be doing alterations between 12th Night and March Crown, but now I may have to make a new corset and alter the white dress in order to wear it for 12th Night. Sigh and Grrr)
