Are any of you interested in getting together at The Sawdust Shop (located in Sunnyvale) and making trestle tables? I got a comment from Craig at The Sawdust Shop that we could have a private class if we have at least 3 people. I have no idea how much it would cost, but if I get enough interested people I will call and get more information. No experiance is necessary they say, they would teach us.

The tables I'm interested in making can be seen in the middle of this page:

Let me know if you are interested by responding here or at my email: tlwhyte@comcast.net . It would also be nice to know some vague timeframe (e.g. "I'm interested, but not until after 12th Night", or "I could do it, but only if the class(s) were Wednseday night(s)", or whatever.) It's no good having 3 people if they can't all get together at the same time. :-/

Hey! That was my idea! :)

ahem. Yes, I am interested, but not until After 12th Night (tm). A weekend day would be good, but I'm not limited to that.

Hey, I'm not proud, if you want to call them that's fine by me. :-)

Yup, I have to admit After 12th Night (TM) works better for me, too. It will be a press for me to finish my 12th Night dress *and* sew/help/do-what-I-need-to-do to make the Maske happen, along with work and Brandee care. :-0

But I think trying out woodworking will be fun, and I'd get a table out of it. :-)

Hee! If you wait for me to call, a workshop won't happen before spring. Either way, though, I'm in.

On the one hand, it seems like a fabulous idea, on the other hand, I wouldn't be able to fit one in my car, AND I really should be working on the bloody pavilion it's supposed to GO in. :->

So, uh, I guess that means I'm out. But it does sound FABU!

Hmm. Sounds like a great idea, but definitely after 12th Night. Too much foo. We might be in, but I haven't "cleared" it with the spouse. Of course, packing such a thing would be a challenge, but our old folding table is not real sturdy, and should have died years ago ... be nice to have a (or maybe two) more sturdy table in camp.

With regards to packing...

In my view, one of the main attractions of building one's own table it the ability to customize size. I'd be making one that would fit in the trunk of my Honda Accord, for example. And I'm hoping that I can choose a wood that is not too heavy (fir perhaps?)

Well, yeah. The big concern really is just what adjustments would need to be made to the "standard" packing arrangements. But I'm sure something could be worked out.

Yes, I wanna play. My cheap aluminum folding table needs to go away after a long life of camping.
But I too want after Twelfth Night and preferably on a weekend.

Any ideas on how much time commitment this will be? Is it meant to be more than one day? This isn't a stopper for me.
