This, that, and the other thing...
Oct. 31st, 2006 08:59 amHappy Halloween everybody! I'm staying home today because by car is in for a reguarly-schedualled checkup (198K miles, huzzah for Hondas!) Given this gift of time I'm going to try to whip some order into my sewing area, as well as seing a few more eyelets on my 12th Night bodice. Hopefully I can set up my annual Dinner Party For The Dead as well, but time may make that more of a symbolic nod than a full dinner set up. Semy-of_pearl's wedding program had the lyrics to The Parting Glass, a song highly appropriate to the day, IMHO, so I've got that out as well. (Nice touch, that: below were listed all of the folks that would have been at the wedding but who have passed on.)
As with baron_antonio, Halloween brings out my philoshopical side. A time for the acknowledgement of change and passing. Like the dear baron, I'm not where I thought I'd be at this point in my life, but I have an incredible group of friends for whom I am most grateful. Speaking of those friends, Marguerite hosted a pumpkin carving fest last night that was very fun. Misagillian picked up a pumpkin for me and I carved in rats on on side and a kitty face on the other. I love those Pumpkin Masters patterns and tools, I really do. :-)
Tonight I'll probably get a small handful of trick or treaters, but I'm prepared and tradition will be observed, damnit...
Speaking of dead people: I find that I haven't picked the Viking clothing book back up, but I have been reading the essays in the At Home in Rennaissance Italy exhibit catalog that I got at the V&A. Yup, there's no question as to what really interests me, there truely isn't.
