Gack, I always find late Sunday evenings depressing. :-( I'd probably be feeling better if I didn't eat so badly today, but I just couldn't drag myself away from sewing -- I can be so obsessive (big shock there, I know... ;-) ).

Anyway, here's the bad (for me, anyway): I have to take my car into the shop. I drove it home Friday, no problem. My car did not get driven until tonight, when Owen asked to borrow my car. He comes back into the house to tell me that the ignition won't budge. I go out an try, and nothing I do works. Owen gets in and tries again (Maria was waiting at BART, and I have to get to work, so this all seemed Bad). Eventually the key/lock/ignition/whatever makes an abrasive noise, but it starts up. OK, that solved the Maria/BART problem, but I don't know what is going to happen tomorrow. Even if it starts up tomorrow morning, I *really* don't want the car to not start out at the barn at 8:30 or 9:00 PM with no one around and no cell reception. And I *really* don't want a car bill right now. *Sigh*.

Insult to injury, my glasses frames are broken. I can wear them, but they are uncomfortable. Have to make time to get them fixed ASAP.

Movie: Kinky Boots: Not bad, but I'd hoped for it to be better. I think it just is kinda drags (no pun intended). It also follows the formula of a bunch of small English social comedy/dramas, complete with a soundtrack that is too obvious. However, Chiwetal Ejiofor is -- dare I say it -- *fabulous* as a drag queen and steals every scene he is in. He has been great in every movie I've seen him in, and I'm of the opinion that he is undertilzed. That man should be a star! I've never seen Dirty Pretty Things because it has always sounded way to depressing, but maybe I'll brave it just to see him in a starring dramatic role.

Sewing progress, or "Now I remember, *that's* why outfits take so long": If it's not the handwork it's the interior structure. Last night I cut out the interlining, outer fabric, and 2 sets of dupioni lining for the 12th night bodice. (The fabric is kinda transparent, so I have to back it with the red dupioni before interlining with the boned drill.) I also cut out the interlining and the bodice fabric for a raison/purple wool dress I'm making to go under my green wool ropa coat (or, as I've named it, the As God Is My Witness I'll Never Be Cold Again outfit). I won't have a corset with this dress, so I'm boning between 2 layers of drill. So much cutting late into the night.

Today I sewed pretty much all day but it doesn't look like I got anywhere. I made the front boned placket for the bodice interlining, got the front and back boned mounted the boned drill/canvas on the dupioni, and pinned it all to the outer fabric. I tried to do a reality-check fitting but wasn't very successful; I'll have to wait until I can get some help there (g0atface?) I'm counting on being able to do any last minute tweaks at the side back seams. Next step is basting the outer fabric and interlining assemblage together. Unfortunately I need to do that by hand working flat on a table.

Concussion fallout: One thing I've noticed is that I have a lot more trouble with typos and spelling. My typing and spelling have never been stellar, but now I have to correct stuff more often, *and* I don't catch mistakes as soon as I used to if at all. :-( . Wow, though, I can tell how out of it I was now that I'm better. I really should not have been driving.

Sigh. OK, step by step. Tomorrow I need to be productive at work, get my glasses fixed, and call my mechanic. Looks like I will have to get some work done at home in the morning. Disipline, that's the ticket...
