Weird day

today's turgid drama: Yesterday, at about noon, I slammed the top of my head into the edge of my open car trunk door. Hurt like a son of a bitch, but, hey, pain is a mere conceit of the flesh, right? I go on to have a regular day.

This morning the top of my head starts to hurt. I take several Aleve. At noon I eat a chicken breast from KFC. By 2:00 PM my head is not only throbbing, but I am so woozy when I stand and walk that I have to hang on to walls. Not good, especially during a working session with my PM. This goes on. I start to have serious doubts about driving, let alone getting out the the barn.

I was supposed to meet Marguerite after work so she could help me fit Brandee's barding (which was to be Jokie's barding; yes, this project has been sitting around for a while.) At about 5:00 she calls and I tell her what's up. She come over and takes me out to dinner, with the understanding that I'm not going to get in my car if I still feel dizzy after I eat something. So we eat, I have a bunch of meat, and I feel significantly less woozy, so I decide to drive home. Brandee never cleared her stall, but I got home in one piece.

I still don't know exactly what went wrong. My head still hurts, but now I'm wondering if the dizziness was an MSG reaction. I've never had one before, but I've heard from others that have had such experiances. I'm going to bed now, and I hope by the morning I'll be back to normal. Weird weird weird.

Hmm. Keep an eye on that - it sounds like some of the symptoms of concussion. I'm glad you didn't ride like that.

My roommate eats chicken from KFC, and hasn't had any MSG issues with it, so I doubt it was that. Then again, MSG hits her fast, and hits her hard. Headache, nausea, dizziness, arms & legs go numb, etc. It's kinda scary when you go out to dinner and realize half-way through that she's accidently poisoned herself.

That said, I'm glad you didn't ride, and I hope you feel better soon!!!

Health: It's really easy to say to yourself "it's no big deal", and "it'll be okay soon". Don't kid yourself -- if you're having that many symptoms go see your doctor ... it could be serious, and it could be minor, but frankly it's better to be safe than sorry, and your friends don't want to see anything bad happen to you!

My first thought was minor concussion from the head blow. Are the pupils of your eyes normal size?
