Had a great time out at the barn today with my lesson and Brandee's training ride. Erica, out trainer, rode Brandee twice last week and boy does it show. This time of year it's a real pleasure to be out there with The Bestest Little Mare In The Whole Wide World. :-) Good thing, 'cause there is no one around this weekend but me, so I'll have to take care of Brandee every day this weekend, including tomorrow. Looks like I'll be late to the Performing Arts Symposium; oh well.

Oh, and I finally found the phone number of the equine dentist people recommend, so some progress was made on that front. Brandee does need to have her mouth checked out given her tendencies when Erica puts her on the bit. But is is money. Just like my favorite sweatshirt says, Born Free, Expensive Now.

Last night I finally saw Almost Famous. Great movie, especially for those of us of a certain age who remember that time and place (I'm 2 years younger than the Cameron Crowe character). I wonder what concerts are like these days--surely there not like they used to be. And Jason Lee was *so* good in that role. Now I think I'll have to pick up that soundtrack (ah, memories...) I also understand why aastg likes that movie so much. :-)

OK, back to my report.

It (Almost Famous) is a really great movie for those of us who were there, man ... (couldn't resist). If you can get the "Bootleg" edition (the official Director's Cut) of the DVD, it comes with a CD that has the six songs by Stillwater on it ... some good shit, since none of it existed before the movie was made, but then Nancy Wilson and Peter Frampton were involved and they know the period well. Heck, Frampton's in the movie, and that's funny all on its own ...
