callistotoniToday I was telling my trainer, Erica, how Marguerite and I are heading off this weekend for a big SCA event, but there wouldn't be any horses. So Erica asks what we do at these things. (Mind you, she knows that we sew costumes for the SCA, and that we spend a lot of time sewing). I tell her we camp and wear our costumes and act all Medieval and Rennaissance-y. Then she asks: "Are there guys in this group?" I say yes, and that a big draw for the guys is fighting, which I describe very briefly (rattan, armor honor system). She thinks this is wild.
A little later, as I'm putting Brandee away, she asks: "So, do you meet guys there (i.e. at SCA events)?"
I say you can, but that there are a lot of (mostly?)couples.
I thought this was funny. I guess if your only touch with the SCA is Marguerite and I you can get a pretty squewed vision of group. :-)
