Remember in my Equestrium post the story about the college-age young woman who took up polo so she could meet straight men who ride english? Well, it came to my mind today. I met a guy today that just moved into the barn with two tall TBs; I gather his main interest is jumping. *Definately* a Friend of Dorothy. It so tracks.

I suppose if you are an actual English man, or a european male, this stereotype wouldn't apply. But here it really is true--too funny!

yeah, we noticed it too. in europe, MEN ride dressage, especially the famous teachers and the higher level competitors.

in the US? not so much.

I wonder if it has to do with ridings military roots? and in the US its a luxury sport.

My new sister in law has a string of polo ponies she rents out - she says she got into it for the same reason ;-)
