Banner Marathon
Apr. 16th, 2006 11:17 pmLike so much of my life, this should be filed under "Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time..."
This weekend I spent at Marguerite's making silk banners for R&Y's coronation. Twenty erimine banners. That's a lot of spots.
A bunch of us worked all day and into the night Saturday. M let me crash there, and she and Brian and Johanna and Martin and I all went to breakfast this morning. Then it was more banners. Y came both days, bless her. Muriel came over at about 11, followed by g0atface, and we didn't finish, but we got a lot done. Thurday night sewing I forsee a lot of edge serging.
We were all totally burnt by about 4:30, so we headed off to Fabrics R Us for some retail therapy. I picked up some gold silk and some black and gold brocade for a petticote and overgown--couldn't resist--and some black velvet for trim. I can use this as a back-up 12th Night dress if it looks like the red/gold applique one is too much for this year.
Got home and could hardly stand. As mad_duchess mentioned, one has to stand and bend for most of the painting process. Collapsed and watched Dear Frankie again. I may have to buy this movie. It's got great subtle acting in it, and, like I said, it has great eye-candy. Big thumbs up folks, if you are looking for a sweet-but-in-no-way-saccerine movie.
Bed now.
