Good Night and Good Luck

Ya know folks, we have an embarassment of riches out there in movie land right now, and there's more to come.
This afternoon I braved the outside world and saw the Edward R. Murrow movie, Good Night and Good Luck. Wow. Good, well thought out, carefully constructed film, everybody. Great performance by the guy playing Murrow. Good editing--seemed like a short movie; no dead space, even though some shots are lingered over. I can understand that this movie might not be everyone's cup of tea (um, there's not a lot of action, and it's not a character study so much as it is about news and facts in the face of fear mongering). If you know me, you know that I don't like being lectured to, but believe me this movie worked as a movie--it did *not* come across like a liberal civics lesson. Really.
The rest of my day: Don't feel well yet, but feeling better. Actually left the house--no choice, really, because Brandee needed to get out. I thought I'd be able to ride, but by the time I got to the barn my inner-ear was playing havoc with my sense of balance, so I decided that getting on a horse was a bad idea. So Brandee just got a turn-out and groomed. Poor, abused Brandee ;-) .
Maestrateresa kindly met me at the barn, and we headed off for the Great Mall for lunch and the movie. Unfortunately, we had to kill time before the movie, so we checked out a sale ($18 for pants that fit! $9 turtlenecks! WooHoo!) I was definately worn out by the time we sat down in the theater, though.
But wait, there's more! Coming home I got caught in a traffic back-up from a recent accident over Hwy 84. I must have been caught for an hour. I started calling people on my cell, I was so bored. Falzalot talked to me a little, but Marguerite actually took the time to keep me company while she hung out at a wedding reception. Really. I'm telling you, your friends are the ones who will talk to you on the phone to keep you company while you are stuck in parking-lot-like traffic. Friends are also the ones willing to go to a movie with a recovering sickie. :-)
