Weekend Theme: I have A/C, and I'm not afraid to use it!

Saturday turned into a Shopping At the Mall day (well, 4 hours of it, andway). (Girl Shopping description follows; Really TMI): Dressed up, but was reminded (in the nicest possible way ;-) ) that I fell into the "someone's mom" category at Vicky's Secret. OK, I haven't been a big VS shopper before (I ususally stick to Nordstrom for lingerie), but 4 of my friends all swear by a line of bras they have. My friends were right--Best Bras Ever. I bought 7 (I hardly ever get to the mall, and I just like to stock up on stuff).
I didn't know it beforehand, but it turned out that Nordstrom was having a big sale. My jeans-like pants are all hanging off me these days, so I checked the sale out. Happily bought a new pair of jeans that are a size smaller--yay me! Also picked up up two cotton tank tops because hey, they were $12.50 and it's hot. Also played in the lingerie--new bras necessitate new underwear; *everyone* knows that! Believe me, the older you get the more important fun, comfortable underwear/lingerie gets. My 40th B-day required the purchase of several silk robes, for example ;-) . Anyway, I needed this stuff, and I think I was in true need of some shopping therapy.

Got home to find the HP HBP had been delivered. Got to curl up in my A/C bedroom and read until I fell asleep for an hour or so. Watched some more Coupling, was generally a slug. The problem with sewing is that the rest of the house was an oven, and I'd done all the handwork I could do, and setting up a sewing area downstairs where there is A/C would have been too much work :-P . Anyway, like I always do I read the end first, and skipped around to get the general idea of the book, and now I'm reading from start to finish. So far I think it is better written than the last one (which I could never actually read cover to cover).

Sunday I did indeed go to the equestrian practice. Had a terrible time getting myself out of the house, and so missed the set up. Turned out to be a pleasant event. The tempertures were in the 80's (maybe 90?)--a zone I can function in--rather than the 90-100 degrees I had feared. Had a nice turnout, and had a lunch talk by one Daud from Walnut Creek on archery, because there is interest in doing mounted archery. Actually, mounted archery *does* interest me. I tried to pull the guys wimpiest bow--25#--but I found that that felt like too much for me. I think I need to start with a 20# bow. The guy made it clear that you can start cheap (like $25 for a bow on ebay). Something I will be looking into.

After the lunch break (which ended sometime after 3:00) everybody decided that we were done. We were all put away and in our cars by 5:00 . Then Marguerite, Alessandro, Collett, Anne of F and I all went out for dinner and smoozing at Left of Alberquerque in Santa Clara--a bit a a drive, but somewhere we knew we all could eat. Very pleasant evening. Didn't get on the road again until almost 9:00 PM, so I just got home, showered, and crashed. Even though I didn't get to sew I'm glad I went and smoozed with folks. I needed that.
