Brandee is a silly girl :-)
Jun. 23rd, 2009 03:45 pmOK, I know that even though *I* find my horse endlessly facinating, that not everyone feels the same way. But, hey, it's my LJ ;-)
I went out to the barn around lunchtime. It was 90 degrees, according to the sign at the bottom of the hill. The outdoor arena was free, so I thought Brandee might like to roll and run around before being ridden. Roll, yes, run around, no. In fact, she just stayed on the ground after rolling and fell asleep in the sun. Now, most horses *like* to run around free, and will do so as soon as you take their halters off. Most of the time I (i.e. the little monkey) have to encourage Brandee to run around. But today was a Whole New Level of sedateness.
Does not the following pic look like Brandee is saying "Girl, fetch me a fruity drink bedecked with a little paper parasol"?

Brandee sunning herself, but looking creepily like she's dead or dying:

I wasn't in any particular hurry, so I just let her sleep. She got up after, I dunno, 20 - 30 min? The she got a saddle thrown on her and we rode. But did I mention the 90 degree part? I did not realize how the heat was getting to me (I had no water on me) until I was done and at the bottom of the hill. Serious body chemistry issues at that point. Food and much water, and then I decided to bag it and go home. :-/ Oh well, I've been working a lot lately and I do still need to pack (and do laundry, and do last min. Party communications, and get more sewing done, and... :-0 ).
But, anyway, I love my silly mellow pony. I will miss her while I'm up north.
