My stupid vision...

callistotoniYa know, I inherited eyes that I think are a pretty shade of blue. Too bad the damn things don't work properly. :-P
Boring nattering on today's eye exam and my attempt to get more usable contacts:
I got a new perscription last year and new glasses. But over the last year I've felt like my vision deteriorated and looking at the computer has become more difficult. Add to that the fact that the older I get the more I hate how I look in glasses. It's the hair, I'm afraid. With glasses and my braid I just have too much of a school-marm-thing going on. I don't want to cut my hair, so I wanted to know if I could get better contacts that I could do more than just walk around in.
So for today's eye appointment I had to wear my contacts for a few hours beforehand. This meant that I couldn't see well enough to do any work so I had to take a sick day. I couldn't do any work afterwards, either, because they dialated my eyes and for whatever reason that has lasted most of the evening. Blah.
The good news is that I got some new-and-improved contacts to try out for this next week. I'll go back next Wed. for some tweeking. The bad news is that A) I'm doubtful I'll be able to do any handwork in them, and B) they won't be covered on my insurance. But I'd love to be able to get away from my glasses for all the times our little group goes out for dinner or shows and movies, as well as more SCA events.
I'm also getting computer glasses, which will help, but my insurance is only paying for part since I got new glasses last year.
I should also be able to pick up a perscription for some eye drops that might help with my allergy problems, which is *another* reason why I've never been able to wear contacts on anything other than a special-occasion basis. (I was supposed to get it today, but the Dr. forgot to make it out. :-/ )
