March Crown Dance Ball This Saturday!
Mar. 15th, 2010 10:32 amHey everybody! Please read this if you responded to my last post on this topic. Below I'm recapping who said they'd help with what, so let me know as soon as possible if what I think is true is not true. :-)
Remember, there will be a 16-th C Venetian-themed Dance Ball this Saturday night at March Crown. The afternoon/evening order of events will be:
- Tournament Finals,
- Chivalry meeting,
- dinner break,
- eventing court in the hall,
- Dance ball.
There start time for the Ball is, therefore, relative. But I believe that at good, working estimated start time is 8:00 PM.
As it turns out, J/S and I will be hotelling March Crown. But we will be setting up a sunshade (or sunshades) to live and cook out of. The sunshade is a 14 x 14 canvas by panther with red poles and red stripes, crosses of Toulouse, and lions painted on 2 walls. We plan to take Friday off of work and so arrive as early as possible Friday afternoon. If you can, please check in with me Friday evening or sometime on Saturday if you are helping so that we can all be on the same page. :-)
And, like I said in my last post about the Ball, the hall we will be using is different from he hall we have used at Woodland in the past. It is to the right of the gate instead of the left. It should be obvious. :-)
Here's who I believe is doing what:
Decorating Committee: Sarah, Violet, Morgan, and Genevieve. Help with decorations from Rivenoak if, hopefully, we can make the connection with them (work in progress).
Games: Genevieve (me) supplying the usual assortment of 16th games (cards, board, dice). Gianetta to man game tables (note: the Ball will run opposite the Virtues discussion, Gianetta, and I saw you wanted to attend that as well. Let me know what you chose to do as soon as you can, 'K? :-) Her Majesty Kara may supply a Tablaro board.
Liquid Refreshment: I'm not 100% cetain that this is happening, but there were plans afoot to have a keg of cyser, courtesy of the generous donations of Their Majesties, Vyncent, and some other kind folks, and there being a cup for donations on site as well.
Note: we *may* need to have a couple of volunteers to man the kegs, partially to monitor for minors, but also to help with portion control (for lack of a better way of putting it...)
In addition, I will bring some water. More donations of water would be greatly appreciated. Elsie volunteered a water urn, and Juana offered some pitchers(possibly). I will have 3 pitchers, but they are not very big.
Set up: Mostly the decorating committee for decorations. Juliana offered up the help of Gunther's squires to help with clearing the chairs used for court to make room for the danceing. I'll be there for cleanup, but any help with that would be, again, greatly appreciated.
General help volunteers: The LBK and Katie, Aurelia M, Sakura.
Dance and Music, without which we wouldn't have a Ball at all: Vyncent, Crystal, and Geoffrey Mathias.
Showing up and looking fabulous: Everybody! :-)
But, really folks, these sorts of events are only as successful as people make them. This is a wonderful opportunity to incorporate indoor courtly activites into our usual outdoor camping Kingdom events. It should be a lot of fun, and give people to do something *different* than just the usual "party on the eric"-thing. (Although I know that there is a lot of "different" things going on this Crown, including the Virtue Roundtable and some very interesting sounding talks being offered Friday night. Huzzah for all this good stuff!)
Looking forward to seeing y'all at the Ball!
