My two cents: Perspective
Aug. 13th, 2008 09:22 amFirst cent: Whenever I find myself all wrapped up in my own little life comedy I'm pulled out of it by taking a look around and seeing all the serious Life (TM) going on in my friends' lives. Some of you out there are dealing with undeniably difficult situations. I wish I could make things all better. Hell, I can't even think of something useful to tell y'all. All I can say is I'm rooting for you. And, if it's not too weird, thank you for being there to remind me that it's not all about me (no, really, I need to be reminded of that!)
Second cent: As you know, I'm not Christian, but I've found some good ideas from that. Like the Golden Rule, which is just A Good Idea. But this week the most useful thing has been "Forgive us our tresspasses, as we forgive those who tresspass against us." Remembering that if I want forgiveness for my faults I need to forgive others for theirs. This has been a useful thing to remember recently.
Perspective: one of the perks of middle age. ;-)
