Dark Knight
Jul. 23rd, 2008 10:37 pmI was in the mood for some violence and angst so I went and saw DK this evening with misagillian and leohtulf. I thought it was brillent -- I'm truely impressed with where they took a superhero action movie. What really worked for me evil here was just evil, which is much more believable in this day and age than trying to give it some sort of (usually hokey) backstory.
I had heard it was dark, so I went in expecting some sort of French-movie-nihilistic sort of dark. I therefore ended with the thought of "Wow, that was positively upbeat compared to what I expected -- woohoo!". My reaction was not universal, however.
What can I say. I thought it was very well done. But I won't be watching it a bunch of times, unlike Iron Man, which I'll be buying because a)it's fun and b) I want to lust after Robert Downey Jr. :-) .
