Horses and Humoral Theory
Apr. 30th, 2008 10:11 am1) Since many of you had fun at the PPF with mixing drinks to balance your humours, it occurs to me to mention Ken Albala's book, Eating Right in the Renaissance, which is all about humoral theory. Check it out if you want to learn more about the topic for future SCA silliness. Note, though, that the book does become something of a slog once you get the basic idea. The problem is that since different people drew from different sources, there was endless nitpicky debate on the topic. Made me understand why the Doctor character in Commedia was so funny to people. (Hmm, I'm at home and I'm not finding my copy.
