Horses and Humoral Theory

1) Since many of you had fun at the PPF with mixing drinks to balance your humours, it occurs to me to mention Ken Albala's book, Eating Right in the Renaissance, which is all about humoral theory. Check it out if you want to learn more about the topic for future SCA silliness. Note, though, that the book does become something of a slog once you get the basic idea. The problem is that since different people drew from different sources, there was endless nitpicky debate on the topic. Made me understand why the Doctor character in Commedia was so funny to people. (Hmm, I'm at home and I'm not finding my copy. rswtr, did I lend you my copy?)

Costume Con

This weekend was Costume Con, held at the SJ Doubletree (the same place this last Western 12th Night was). I'd never been to this or any other con before. Overall I thought it was interesting and the craftsmanship on display was inspiring, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go to another one.
