Anybody still out there?
Feb. 12th, 2007 02:12 pmA lot of my homies are headed to Estrella. I hope you guys have a great time and a safe trip. :-)
This does mean that it is Payback Time for me for all of the help misagillian has given me with Brandee. Misagillian now has a lease on Brandee's stall neighbor, Shasta, and Misagillian will be gone this week down south, so I need to take care of 2 horses this week instead of one. Probably isn't going to be my best week at work. :-/ . Oh well. Shasta is a good girl and needs some TLC (she was pretty neglected before misagillian started leasing her.)
Congrats to helblonde and falzalot for putting on a great event Saturday! The Feast of Fine Arts came off really well, despite the non-working stove and the rain. I hope the event happens again next year.
Speaking of events: Sunday I had a 'This task has been given to you, Frodo Baggins' moment. It had been suggested that Mists Fall Investiture happen at the Livermore Veteran's Memorial building, which is 4 blocks from my house. The autocrat for that event has had to bow out, due to having to move out of state. OK, 4 blocks from my house, need of autocrat, I can take a cosmic hint.
stella_nordica called the Livermore folks last week and found out that the site is open for that day. I wanted to go down this morning and reserve it, but they are closed today for Lincoln's B-day, so I'll have to go down there tomorrow morning. Hey, madbaker, I'll be talking to you soon. :-) Well, wish me luck!
(Hmm, come to think of it, this is the second Frodo event in a couple of weeks, since I volunteered to be A&S EQ autocrat too, because it would be just dumb and stupid not to be able to bring Brandee to an event that is happening a rock's throw away from where she lives. Hey, I may be a dedicated Slacker, but I'll help out when it's dumb and stupid for me not to. ;-) ).
Also on Sunday stella_nordica came over so we could drape a doublet pattern for her. While we were doing this, a question came up: If any of you out there have made an Effigy-type corset with reeds, how far up the back did you put the reeds? If they were long enough to cover the shoulder blades, did they curve over them? Did they curve after the corset was worn and the reeds soften up? What we wound up doing was cutting the reeds down so they didn't go over the shoulderblades. But the pictures of the original corset look like the reeds *are* that long. Sarabellem? Anybody else?
