I've been working on the colored-paper template for my pavillion painting design, and I've run into a problem. As envisioned, the design would have stripes that would "sprout" my Cross of Toulous at three heights. Yseult cautioned me that the strips have to be wide in order to look right; she recommended we try 2.5 in. But trying to make that wide a stripe work with my CoT is being a problem.

The width of the Cross arms is limited by the total width of the cross. The total width of the crosses is driven by the space between the stripes, which is driven by the seams. Bottom line: I have not been able to get the wide stripes to work with the crosses. In addition, the crosses don't 'read' when they grow out of the stripes.

Now I'm considering changing the design. Perhaps the stripes could split and from diamonds, and the crosses can be inside the diamonds. But that means smaller crosses, and they might have to be too small to be read.

Blah. I think I need to take a nap. :-P
