callistotoni: (sillyme)
As almost everyone who reads this knows, it was hellishly hot this weekend at A&S. Sunday everybody got off the site as soon as they could (in our case, about noon), before the severe heat of the day kicked in. But when I got home, it had to be in the 100s here in Livermore. It was so hot outside that when I opened the door to the house, I thought "Boy, the house has sure stayed cool"; then I looked at the thermometer and saw that the house temp was in the 80s. According to the radio it is supposed to be in the 100s for the next few days :-P . Hot is OK as long as it stays between 80 and 90, but 100 is too much :-P .

As to A&S itself, the first two classes were quite enjoyable (historical rapier), but I didn't take any classes past that because of the heat. One lessoned learned: drinking water all day is not enough. It was only after Cassie made me drink two big glasses of diluted Gatoraid that I started to feel better. (Oh course, it was terribly classy that the glass she handed my was one that she obviously made :-) ).

I tried to audit g0atface's dance class, but I wandered off in search of more water and rest. Marguerite cancelled her class, which was supposed to be the second period Sunday, because it was obviously better to get off the site with the horses as soon as possible. (In a semi-joking fashion she and Collett decided that the class could be taught in an air conditioned resturant, say, Left at Alberquerque. She was only sort joking because she did come up to me before she left offering to call me later so we could meet at LaA--I told her I intended to go home and go to sleep
:-) ).

The Bella Luna play was fun to watch--loved the sheep! I also got to spend time with the LBK, which was very cool, and spent a few minutes with maestrateresa, who spent her time at A&S with the scribes. Of course, wandered around and chatted with the usual suspects :-) . Juan *kindly* tried to help me practice my flirting all weekend, but I obviously have a long row to hoe in that regard ;-) .

Oh, and even though I may have broken down at A&S, my apprentices kicked-butt! In the nicest possible way, of course ;-) . The LBK performed and won the Song performance competition, Marguerite won the Barding competition, and g0atface taught a *very* difficult, new 16th C Italian dance and everybody in the class learned it. Huzzah!!! You guys are great :-) .

After leaving the site, had lunch at the Black Bear Diner along with, apparently, the rest of the A&S escape-ies and the population of Gilroy. Sat with madbaker, Donata, and Juana and Ivar. We all needed to eat, 'cause it seemed like we all perked up once food was in front of us.

Came home, showered, and watched the rest of Coupling. Then began to get a killer headache, so took drugs and crashed. Feeling better this morning.

So now I've got to figure out how to get my dress done for the Arts Fete in these next two weeks. Next weekend is booked (barn Sat, then SF to see The Gondoliers and have dinner at LuLu's Sunday), so I'll have to sew during the week. I'll need to set up my sewing stuff downstairs so I can have A/C--what a pain, but it could be worse.
