Tonight I finished the Camica Of Much Learning. This was the camica that I started at aastg's camica workshop (in August?) Definitely field wear. Some of the Lessons Learned:
-- I, personally, need to add underarm gussets. Aastg has not found them necessary, but I clearly need them.
-- Pleat in sections; figure this out before you start.
-- Bigger pleats are better than pleats that are too small (at least if you want a ruff-oid edge).
-- One width of fabric for the front and back is not enough for me. Don't need a lot more, but do need more for the look I'm after.

You've all heard the stupid stuff I did, so I won't add those. :-/

Now I'm going back to my corset, which is now the bottle-neck for most of my other projects.

Speaking of corsets, I spent Sunday draping a effigy-style** corset for stella_nordica. I've never done one of these things before, so it was fun to try to wrap my brain around something new.

**(If you don't already know, this style of corset is based on the one taken off Elizabeth I's effigy figurine in Westminster. It dates from her death. It is interesting in that it has a very high back with wide straps coming from the back piece, and it laces up the front. Folks on the net have written that it is one of the most comfortable corsets they've worn. And I'm of the opinion that it's a good style for larger busts).

Speaking of doing something new...I'm planning on going down to Tarnmist to hold some sort of costume workshop, time TBD.

Yup, I think this is going to be the year that I crawl out of my well-upolstered rut. Or maybe I just extend my rut's bounderies a bit. :-)
