As most of you know, I'm going to be a bridesmaid on May 13. I get to wear anything I want, so I thought I thought http://www.simplicity.com/simplicity-pattern-8247-misses-1930s-dress-and-jacket/S8247.html would be a good choice. I've got a teal wool/cotton challis from Renaissance Fabrics and some pink cotton sateen that I *might* use as facings for the jacket. But, right at this moment, this project is being frustrating. :-/

I knew I was going to have to enlarge this pattern from the bust down. Since it is pieced (see pic in link above), I thought the fastest thing to do would be to make a muslin using the largest pattern size and then split the pattern and add fabric as required. I wound up splitting the pattern horizontally right under the bust, and then added vertical inserts from there down. I got to a point where I thought I could transfer to paper and cut real fabric.

When I made the paper pattern there was a mix of "no seam allowance" and "with seam allowance" seams, and I *thought* I'd written which was which on the pattern pieces. I'd started to true up the pieces and notice that they weren't matching.

Then, because a) I didn't have the fabric at that point, and b) the Critter Smock deadline was before the wedding deadline, I set this dress project aside.

Sigh. It is a fact universally acknowledged that picking up a project after a break is a PITA because you can never remember all that was going on with it.

I've got my muslin pieces and I'm doing my best to align them against the paper pattern pieces I created. I've added some seam allowances. But, bottom line, things are just not matching up. Maybe I'm not seeing the problem because I'm tired and/or still sick. Or maybe I just screwed up.

Here's hoping that things will make sense on Saturday morning when I can look at this with fresh eyes after a good night's sleep, instead of trying to figure it out after work and dinner on a weeknight. :-/

Don't I know the misery about picking up projects after working on another. Best of luck!

I hope you get it sorted - the colors and fabrics ought to be gorgeous together.
