The week before last I finally saw the movie Queen Margot (French, with subtitles). Given that it's set in the 1570s -- the St. Bartholomew Day Massacre, to be precise-- I was looking forward to it. It is insufficient to say I was dissappointed. Let me put it this way: I'll never get *that* two hours of my life back again. :-/

But tonight I saw a French film I really liked: Amelie, from 2001. I liked everything about it. :-) I liked the quirky characters and they way the film is shot and put together. And I *got* the Amelie character. Not identified with, really, but could really feel where she was coming from. Cute and quirky, not a bad combination in a film. :-)
